Fundraising Options
Let’s face it – No one really likes asking family, friends and co-workers for money. While fundraising in not a requirement for participation in the Gallop, we do strongly encourage everyone to solicit donations to help us support a great cause. If every participant raised $25.00 in sponsorship donations, we could increase our total contribution to the Greenways by 50% over previous years. We offer great prizes for the top 3 fundraisers, and any runner or walker who raises at least $100.00 in donations is eligible for a refund of their registration fee and a special Friend of the Greenway gift.
If you are not participating in the Gallop but would still like to help, you can make a contribution by sponsoring a runner or a team. Unlike other similar events, all of the money raised by the Gallop is spent locally to benefit Roanoke Valley residents and visitors. All funds are donated in honor of Tom Farrell, a local runner and greenway supporter who died after being struck by a car in 2008.
